Necco wafer table runner update

I finally figured out how to connect the little "wafers"! I'm going to crochet around each one with white thread to make them square-shaped, then crochet them together in rows. Seems reasonable, right? :)

More shoelaces

I crocheted more shoelaces for my work shoes a couple of days ago, using size 20 size 10 (or "regular" size) crochet thread - one strand of black, and one strand of white. I chained 300, then did a slip stitch in each chain to the end, threaded them through the holes with a crochet hook, then tied a knot in the ends.

Since I have lots of crochet thread in different colors, I'll make a few more. It'll keep me busy until I get more white thread to finish my Necco wafer table runner (some day). :)

Necco wafer table runner update

Most of the "wafers" for the table runner are done. So far, there's blue, yellow, green, peach, and variegated "wafers". I just need to finish the pink ones, then find some light purple, violet, or lavender colored crochet thread. I might look for another variegated thread to use, too.

"Necco wafer" table runner.

After seeing a Necco wafer table runner on The Chew, I decided to crochet one. These are the first few "wafers". Needless to say, this will be a long-term project!

I still need to get yellow, pink, purple, and light blue thread (maybe orange, too). instead of counting the number of "wafers' I'll need, I'm going to make as many as I can out of each spool of thread, then figure out how I'll connect them. If there's any left over, maybe I'll make place mats or coasters...or something. :)

Hot pad

Here's a hot pad I just finished. It didn't take very long to do, either. :)

I used the same yarn that I used for the scrubbies - Peaches 'n Cream yarn, but with a size I hook (I used a size J hook for the scrubbies). I just did single crochet stitches in a circle (joining each row, as you may be able to tell), until I ran out of yarn, and it finished at about 13" across.

Scrubbies

This is one of the scrubbies I crocheted with Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn. The yarn is pretty worn out from repeated re-use (I tried making a hat out of it several times), so I thought scrubbies would be a good use for it. I've done 4 so far, but I'll do a few more. Why not?

Shoelaces

Here's a pic of the shoelaces I crocheted for my work shoes a few months ago. I didn't want the same old solid color, so I thought I'd try something new.

It actually worked! Using Mexicana color crochet thread, I made a chain as long as my old shoelaces, then did 2 rows of single crochet end-to-end (through both loops of each stitch), then 1 row of slip stitch all the way across (through both loops of each stitch).

I had to use a crochet hook to lace them, then I tied a knot in each end. Since they stretched, and are now almost too long, I tied a bigger knot at the ends. Next time, I'll make them a little shorter. :) I'll be making more soon - some for each season or holiday.
